July is racing along very quickly and come the beginning of August, we can count on the Wiarton Rotary Fair to open the third portion of the summer.
This year marks the 82nd edition of the Wiarton Rotary Fair, and as with all other editions, this year’s event will be held at Bluewater Park.
The fair opens on Friday, August 2nd and culminates on Monday and admission to all four days of the fair is free.
Fair Food:
Visitors will have a variety of delicious dishes to choose from including BBQ’d meats, poutine and other typical fair grub and desserts.
Sunday will be the only day of the festival to feature the Fireman’s beef BBQ.
Adult Activities:
Hammer Slammer Slam Off – This activity is actually open to everyone who is interested in participating and putting on a show of strength.
There will be bingo each evening, starting at 7:00pm with a cash prize of $100 to be awarded at the end of each evening.
Live Your Dream Draw – One of the most exciting portions of the fair. This draw will see a lucky winner walk away with $15,000 in cash.
Shore To Shore Road Race takes place Monday morning and makes for a great way to burn off some of the calories you accumulated throughout the festival.
Come dusk on Sunday, the fair will close off the evening with a fireworks show.
Kid’s Activities:
Children’s entertainer Erick Traplin will be on hand to perform music for the kids in attendance.
Other activities for the little ones include:
- Party Safari will be presenting exotic animals (spoiler alert: there will be snakes on hand).
- Face Painting will be offered by Nikki Burgess
- There will also be shirt and visor painting
- Painting activities will also be extended to the creation of murals
- Pirate Hats and Telescope Decorating
- Guests are also invited to create their own Fairy Gardens
Parents also have the option to purchase a wristband for their kids, entitling them access to the carnival rides provided by Magical Midway.
Volunteers Are Needed!
At this present time, there is still a need for volunteers to assist with the festivities on all four days. If you’re interested in helping, you can contact the Rotary here.
